The Energetic Difference Between Reading and Perceiving

Posted by on

This is such an exciting topic and one that is very near and dear to my heart!

It took me years of navigating the energy realm to establish a language for these concepts. Now they have become a foundation for all the Chakredy® work.

Establishing awareness around this sometimes obvious, sometimes subtle difference is HUGE. If you work in any type of healing capacity, you are going to want to check this video out!

The Energetic Difference Between Reading and Perceiving

It’s time to talk about the energetic difference between reading and perceiving. Energy peeps often use the term read for various types of intuitive work. For example, giving a card reading, offering an intuitive reading. There is nothing wrong with the word read, I want to clarify that. What I am speaking to is what I experience as the energetic difference between reading and perceiving.

So let’s dive right into the Chakredy® definition of reading.

Reading
When I connect with the term reading, reading energy, it implies more of a projection into another person’s energy to gain insight and information.

Many intuitives “read” energy unintentionally. Again, referring to reading as a process where you are projecting into another person’s energy to access information.

When you are on the receiving end of this it can feel violating. A hard read can feel like a bombardment, someone taking a serious dive into your field and digging around in it.

Have you ever had someone tell you something about yourself that just made you think, hey! I don’t want that person diving into my stuff?

Two people can share the same piece of information and one can feel grounded, compassionate and resonant and another can feel invasive, off and violating.

So let’s break it down.

Reading

When you are reading another person’s energy you project forward. You may notice your physical body leaning forward. You may also experience this as concentrated or focused energy projecting from your head/third eye into the other person’s energy field.

This is how you may connect with it in yourself and it is also how you can identify this in another person.

Perceiving

When you perceive energy you remain grounded and clear in your own energy field to connect with and observe another person’s energy.

You invite the energy and information to come to you rather than diving in and grabbing at it for yourself.

Perceiving feels grounded, connected and compassionate. You can sense the space being held by a person that perceives, it is all-encompassing. It may feel like being held in a supportive bubble.

So let’s put these concepts to practice!

Practice
Write down one experience where you have been on the receiving end of being read. How did it make you feel?

Write down one experience where you have been on the receiving end of being perceived. How did it make you feel?

Write down one experience where you were the reader of someone else’s energy. How did the person on the receiving end respond? How did you feel in your body?

Write down one experience where you were the perceiver. How did the person on the receiving end respond? How did you feel in your body?

Whether you are applying these concepts to navigating your personal life or your professional practice in some type of healing capacity, embodying the ability to perceive energy is powerful. It supports you and your personal energy because reading can drain you and others AND it creates the space for healing when you can apply this to working with others.

Awareness is the most profound tool you have to initiate shifts. Can’t wait to hear about your connections!

Have a blast!
